A global pandemic has undoubtedly forced a change of behaviours for us all in everyday life and with gym and public spaces closed during repeated UK lockdowns, the challenge to maintain fitness has seen the inevitable rise of on-demand home fitness. We caught up with Sport and Exercise Sciences graduate Ashley Jones who graduated in last summer and has since gone on to created an online fitness service called HighHealth.
HighHealth offers
subscribers unlimited access to online workouts and programmes tailored
specifically to them and their goals. The workouts and programmes are designed
to help subscribers achieve their long-term body/ weight goals and attempts to
help them avoid any weight regain. The workouts involve using a heart rate
monitor to ensure subscribers stay in the correct heart rate zone, therefore
making sure that they work at the correct intensity throughout. This is
designed to help subscribers optimise their training and avoid any
over-training they might usually experience when doing other home workouts.
I came up with the idea of
HighHealth after I did some research into the home workout industry. I couldn’t
find a competitor that offered personalised workouts and focused on the
LONG-TERM success of its subscribers. The only way something like this was
accessible to the world was to get a personal trainer or coach. However,
getting a coach isn’t for everyone, its often very expensive, way too intense,
and frankly way too serious for some.
This business is designed for workout
lovers who want long lasting results, without having to pay for a coach.
Subscribers simply take a questionnaire, and the website will produce a
programme tailored to their goals, fitness levels and enjoyments. Each
programme will show the subscriber a long-term plan that will guide them to the
goals at the correct pace. Each workout is available in video format for
subscribers to follow in real time. In addition, HighHealth helps with goal
setting and the nutritional side, both of which are very important for the long
last fitness results. We are available 7 days a week for all subscribers if
they ever need any help with anything fitness or nutritional related.
The hardest aspect of
starting up your own business is understanding you must sacrifice instant
satisfaction for long-term gratification. Very few start-ups will make you the
money that a normal job would to begin with, you just have to believe that you
will reap the rewards for your work later on. The best part about starting your
own business is that you can do what you love, hard work becomes much easier
when the goal/ vision is your goal/ vision. I wish I knew the
complexity of business before I started. There are many aspects to a business
that must all work correctly in order to make the business successful.
I have taken away a lot of
knowledge regarding marketing, start-up, and sales during the early stages of
HighHealth. These skills will be valuable in life, whether it will be in this
business or another.
I have a huge passion for
training and nutrition. I’m still at the very start of journey but one I hope
to be in a position where I am helping thousands of people achieve their goals.
I hope to have a positive impact on the obesity crisis and help all subscribers
feel supported on their fitness journey.
